Sean Price joined Northwestern University in 2024 as Assistant General Counsel. He works with Northwestern’s Innovation and New Ventures Office and the Office of General Counsel where he advises on issues related to intellectual property licensing, data privacy, and commercial agreements.
Prior to joining Northwestern, Sean was a Partner at Dinsmore & Shohl, LLP, where he assisted companies ranging in size from small start-ups to large Fortune 500 companies with the acquisition, development, and monetization of intellectual property. As part of this work, Sean drafted and negotiated a wide variety of agreements, including intellectual property licenses, joint development agreements, asset acquisition agreements, data licenses, cloud services agreements, sponsorship agreements, and distribution and supply agreements. He also advised clients on issues related to trademark prosecution, data privacy, and open-source software.
Sean received his bachelors in physics from Illinois Wesleyan University, and his juris doctor degree magna cum laude from the DePaul University College of Law. He is licensed to practice in Illinois and is a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
